Lake Trail Neighbourhood Connections (LTNC) is pleased to offer a unique herbal class to community members on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 pm at Lake Trail School. The class will be on the topic of calendula, which has traditionally been used as a culinary and medicinal herb.
The hands-on course will cover such topics as planting, growing and harvesting calendula, including drying it. Participants will be shown how to make infused oils and simple salves from it.
Participants will also be given seeds and product samples to take home.
The course will be held in the Foods Room at Lake Trail School. It is free of charge; however, donations are gratefully accepted.
The instructor is Dianne MacLean. Dianne has had a varied background as a registered nurse, wildcrafter, storyteller, and herbalist. She has worked as a community networker for many organizations and non-profits and has been documented on CBC for wild crafting. She currently facilitates Dawn to Dawn’s Community Garden, as well as teaching at Comox Valley Aboriginal HeadStart.
To register for this class, please contact Angela Konkin, LTNC’s Coordinator, by Tuesday, March 5 at laketrailvision@gmail.com or phone at 250-334-3168. Limited space is available.
